Okay, I have been quiet long
enough, it is finally time for me to weigh in on Ferguson ,
Mo.
First of all I have to say that I have been waiting so long so I could
see the reports and make a fair decision, secondly I should share a little
background with some of you: I have a Law Enforcement background, or at least I
used to, I was trained as a Law Enforcement specialist (MP) in the military and
had to learn not only Law Enforcement but also self-defense, handcuffing
techniques, basic law, riot control, etc.
I would say I have a better grasp on the situation than most of the
laymen commenting about this stuff throughout the media. Although I have a background in Law
Enforcement and many of my family follow a career in the field but this is only
my opinion!
The one glaring thing that makes my stomach turn and gets me so angry
with this case is the fact that once again a member of Law Enforcement forgot
all of the training they are supposed to learn and panicked. It is clear from the evidence that the cop
had 150 feet of space between him and his attacker, if this is the case than
the officer was definitely at fault as anyone who has ever had training in
deadly force knows, you are supposed to meet force at the appropriate level, in
this case an unarmed man in a rage 150 feet away would have called for a taser,
mace or baton, not a gun and not shooting it 6-8 times blindly! This is why I
am so upset with this killing and the majority of the killings by Law
Enforcement I have been seeing lately, unarmed people being gunned down by
blood-thirsty cops. Why not shoot
someone if you know you can get away with it? This cop in Ferguson ,
could have easily tased or maced this unarmed kid before he covered the ground
it took to get the cop. The rules of
deadly force used to be very simple, meet the force with a force of similar or
lesser strength, their was a good reason for this, so cops weren’t shooting
every drunken idiot who thought they could beat up a cop! Somewhere within the
last 20 years the police unions across the country must have gotten together
and declared that cops don’t have to follow the deadly force laws anymore. It is ridiculous and unacceptable; I don’t
understand how anyone can justify shooting and killing an unarmed man?
Especially a cop because they are supposed to uphold the LAW! Just because they
have a gun doesn’t mean they should use it all the time. Look back at all the police involved
shootings within the last few years and count how many of the victims have been
unarmed, then go back to the records twenty years ago and see that number be
way, way lower. In a violent society
where these cops grow up playing call of duty and most have a military
background they have become blood thirsty and sick with power, they know they
can get away with murder now so they don’t think of their training when they
get intense situations; they shoot first and hide behind their own laws and
unions. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON A
COP WITH A TASER, MACE, BATON, AND PROPER TRAINING SHOULD BE SHOOTING A COMBATIVE
SUSPECT FROM 150 feet AWAY.
PS: Don’t think I hate cops, I
just hate what they are turning into…
In conclusion, I could have
literally written a book about this subject that is how utterly angry I am
about it and every time I see someone who is supposed to be a highly trained
member of society for the purpose of protecting a community shirk their
training and kill in cold blood I get angry.
I don’t care if the kid was white, black, albino, gay, straight, he shouldn’t
have been killed when his killer had many, many other means of apprehending
him. I have to stop before I really get
going, well now you know how I feel……………………………..PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
