Happy Wednesday! I am sticking with the selective color theme, today I have the happy privilege of posting an image with three of my favorite things: a bee, a flower and my selective color mode! As I have stated numerous times, it isn't easy getting bees to stay still long enough to get a good shot. It makes it more difficult with the selective color mode on because I have to shoot from the screen instead of through the eyepiece and it is much harder to aim and focus while looking at the screen, especially since I am so used to shooting through the eyepiece. It is also advised that a person doesn't use shooting through the screen in other modes as it wastes a lot of battery life, that's just a bonus tip for anyone out there with a DSL. I was fortunate to get this shot and it didn't take as long as I thought it would as the bee was more than content with me near him as he busily slurped the nectar from this flower, which is purple in case you are wondering. I am going to post a picture I took seconds later without selective color tomorrow so you can see the difference. If you look close enough at the bee in this picture you can see tiny specks of yellow (pollen) on his otherwise colorless body. I really enjoy sitting in the flowers watching these guys work and it is an added bonus when one sits still long enough for me to get a decent picture. When I'm in the flowers among nature observing or waiting for a good shot I get lost in the moment. I forget about all the horrible crap that is happening in the world and just revel in the pure beauty and intricate workings of the natural world around me. This bee was just doing what he was born to do, just another day surviving and helping the hive but to me it was so much more than that. Life goes on all around us no matter what is going on and just taking a few minutes out of everyday to notice it makes the day go by a lot better......................PEACE!!!!!!!
