This is Gandalf and Glinda, they live in the area around my work.  Everyday they start out at the hotel and slowly make their way across the lake front until they get to where this picture was taken.  They hang out all day grazing, and every once in a while we will throw them crackers but once that happens three hundred seagulls come out of no where so we have to try to do it stealthily.  I was going to try to talk to the seagulls about not taking food intended for the geese but as anyone who has read my stuff in the past knows seagulls and I have a long history of not being nice to each other.  Talking to a seagull is like trying to talk to a three year old, that doesn’t speak or understand English.  They are extremely annoying and never give a person a chance to talk.  I was in front of a seagull judge once and it was a joke.  I got two words in total, they are impetuous, arrogant, rude and greedy yet they are animals and I have to love them.  I tolerate them because I respect all life but I am researching a way to get crackers to the geese without feeding the seagulls.  I try to watch them at every chance I get and it is so cool to see the way they go about their day.  Glenda does most of the eating while Gandalf stands guard, honking at anything or anyone who gets too close.  Many bird species mate for life and I think that is awesome and it also shows that they have feelings, that’s what makes it so hard to think about people hunting them.  In five or six months I will have to worry that one or both of them may be killed when they begin their flight south.  The way Gandalf watches out for Glenda tells me that they do love each other and I also suspect that we may be seeing a bunch of Gandalf/Glenda juniors waddling behind them soon enough.  I should warn you all that if the babies do indeed appear you will be seeing a lot of geese pictures! Get ready for nothing but geese and baseball pictures for a while, no I am only joking, I would love to go get some flower pictures but the SNOW is making that impossible.  Until tomorrow have a great day and travel safe…………………PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
