Happy Ostara to all my pagan brethren and Happy Easter to all
of my Christian friends and family, I hope everyone has a great holiday
weekend. It is a busy one for me at work
and I apologize for not posting anything yesterday, this will be short and then
I will be back to full steam on Monday.
Ostara was celebrated by our ancient ancestors to mark the Vernal
equinox, it celebrated the death of winter and the rebirth of spring. Many of our current Easter traditions came
from this pre-historic celebration. The
finding of colored eggs actually comes from when our ancient ancestors would
hunt for the colored eggs of wild birds in their nests, on a side note it has
also been hypothesized that humans began weaving baskets by observing the same
wild birds build their nests that they would later pilfer from. These celebrations were first linked to a
couple of ancient deities named, Eostre and Ostara, whom was associated with
the dawn, rebirth and spring. Whatever
your religious preference have a great weekend and be safe and happy. I have enclosed a few words from a Wiccan
prayer book and the bible.
From the Wiccan religion:
O great Goddess, you have freed yourself from the icy
prison of winter. Now is the greening,
when the fragrance of flowers drifts on the breeze. This is the beginning. Life renews itself by Your magic, Earth
Goddess. The God stretches and rises,
eager in his youth, and bursting with the promise of summer.
And from the bible John 3:16 -17
"For God so
loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish, but have eternal life. "For God did not send the
Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through
Him.
……………….Peace!!!!!!!!!!
