I posted a picture similar to this when I first started this blog, but I like this one better.  I did the selective color mode and kept only the yellow, I like the different shades of the bee.  The day I took this I had come across at least fifty bees, before that day I hadn't seen more than three or four all year.  I am surprised that I'm not afraid of bees since I seem to fear just about everything to some dgree or other, yet it's just the opposite.  I like bees, I could sit and watch them for hours.  someone asked me if I was afraid they would sting me because I was getting so close to them but I never felt threatened and obviously they must not have either.  It's true with bees and most wild animals, you leave them alone, they leave you alone. It has been discovered recently that bees are dying at an alarming rate and scientists have no idea why, some have even postulated that cell phones are causing interference somehow re-wiring the bees instincts and thus killing them.  Wouldn't that be great if we humans wiped out another creature?  It upsets me to no end that somewhere down the line humans decieded that we have power over the natural world, who the hell came up with that?  If bees go extinct then so does 75% of our wild flowers and who knows what plants, bees are an integeral part of nature and if we humans are somehow responsible for thier demise the question then becomes, "How much longer is Mother Nature going to allow us to do this?"  She has put us in our place numerous times in the past and we are long over due for another ass whipping.  200,000 years ago homo sapien sapien was done to a thousand people, the plague wiped out half the population of europe in the middle ages, and there are many more examples throughout humanities existance.  This is the reason I have meticulous plans for a cataustrophic event should it happen in my lifetime.  I have spent alot of time and energy on making sure that myself and my loved ones will n ot only survive but prosper if such a tragic event shall ever happen.  Hopefully nothing will but the signs are not good and if we keep destroying this planet we are just provoking Mother Nature.  Getting back to my original rant, I really don't want bees to become extinct not only because it would be horrible for nature but also because they are wonderful creatures who help carpet this world in a wonderful frondescence of color and beauty.  I just learned that word today and had to use it, frondescence, sweet! Anyhow next spring I can't wait to go back to this spot and watch the bees again, I just hope they ar there.  Next time you see one just take a minute to watch it, it's really cool. Peace!
